HISTORY
2003
MMB was formed in late 2003 by Bergen County singer and writer, Flash: one of the biggest Beatle fans around! Joining soon were Gary Sorce (guitar and vocals), Jim Delpizzo (bass), Jeff Pines (keyboards and percussion) and Ron Zito (drums, guitar, vocals and Music Director). Weekly rehearsals proved to pay off for a few successful shows around the area. People were loving the near-perfect sound in Mystical Majesty Band’s presentation of The Beatles memorable music for all generations. All was proven again at the 2004 Fest For Beatles Fans’ Battle Of The Beatles Bands contest. MMB brought the house down with “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” as their second number. They were the winner by a very long standing ovation by almost 2000 people at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Ballroom. It was an exciting night to be a Beatle fan!
Later on that year, Jeff Pines was replaced by Ed Zeltzer ..boards and guitar. Where Jeff had left off, Ed resumed with full-force. The sounds emulated from his keys were remarkable, giving the band an even bigger edge over all Beatle cover and tributes. With their new Keyboardist in tow, MMB performed and won again at the 2005 Battle Of The Beatles Bands. Gigs followed at places like Joe & Joe Restaurant in Pearl River, NY and The Underpass in Elmwood Park, NJ.
2005
2005 was a year that kick started MMB’s popularity and almost saw the band ending. Around the holidays, Ed Zeltzer was regretfully excused from MMB due to some personal problems he needed to address. Though they hated to see him go, it was decided to continue on. Auditions were held and Henry Ptak was chosen as the new keyboardist, guitarist and background vocalist as well! But as soon as Henry was in, Flash decided to leave to pursue other interests. It was then that drummer Ron Zito stepped out from behind the drum kit to share the front with Gary and Jim. Ron proved to be an adequate choice, juggling vocals, guitar and percussion. Soon after, the band was joined by Dan D’Elia on drums and the present lineup was complete.
2006 to Present!
Mystical Majesty Band brought the victory home once again at the 2006, 2008 and 2010 Battle Of The Beatles Bands! In the summer of 2007, they had the privilege to open for an actual former Beatle: Pete Best and his band at The Cutting Room in New York City! In the audience were notable personalities such as May Pang and musicians Mark Hudson, David Peel & Little Steven VanZant of The E-Street Band and star of The Sopranos! To top it off, Ken Dashow of Q104.3 FM was the host and introduced Mystical Majesty Band as they tore into their set of some of the best Beatles material ever! When finished, they received a standing ovation!
